Summer on the coast, Germany and the Netherlands

A summer by the sea, with a room.

On the German North Sea and Baltic coast and on the Dutch Wadden Islands, hotels, restaurants and beach businesses look for staff every summer. The problem is almost always housing, not work. That is why we collect jobs here where the employer offers a room.

Where the work is

North Sea: Sylt, Föhr, Amrum, Pellworm, the East Frisian Islands, St. Peter-Ording. Baltic Sea: Fehmarn, Bay of Lübeck, Fischland-Darß, Rügen, Usedom. The Netherlands: Texel, Vlieland, Terschelling, Ameland, Schiermonnikoog.

SeasonUsually April to October. Summer jobs are filled in winter, so now.

PayGermany has a minimum wage: €13.90 per hour in 2026, €14.60 from 2027. The Netherlands also has a legal minimum wage. Many employers pay more.

HousingOn the islands housing is scarce and expensive. A job without a staff room rarely pays off there. Ask what the room costs before you say yes.

To be honest

In Germany you usually need German for service jobs, in the Netherlands often Dutch or good English. In the kitchen, housekeeping and on the beach, English is often enough. And the weather is not the Mediterranean: pack a good rain jacket.
